At the Chiang Mai Women Correctional Institution, rehabilitation through real action is our priority because it can reinforce the pride and self-esteem of the inmates. With that principle in mind, the institution has organized Thai massage and spa training program.
It is a unique vocational program of the institution that offers professional masseuse training courses of 300 hours “Ruean Pra Thammarong Courses” and Thai massage course of 150 hours this course has approved by the Ministry of Public Health to prepare for the upgrading of skill standards of The courses delve into theories of physiology and anatomy to build a foundation for good services, coupled with rigorous training.
This is the art and science of empowering those who used to think of themselves as unimportant. They now have been inspired to grow past their mistakes using they are given opportunities and finally make their dreams come true. The knowledge will help them sustain themselves and their families, ultimately benefiting the society in the long run.
Precautions
Massage is not recommended for certain people:
* infectious skin disease, rash, or open wounds
* immediately after surgery
* immediately after chemotherapy or radiation, unless recommended by your doctor
* prone to blood clots. There is a risk of blood clots being dislodged. If you have heart disease, check with your doctor before having a massage
* pregnant women should check with their doctor first if they are considering getting a massage.
Massage in pregnant women should be done by massage therapists who are certified in pregnancy massage.
* massage should not be done directly over bruises, inflamed skin, unhealed wounds, tumors, abdominal hernia, or areas of recent fractures.
